Smoothies are definitely a staples in our home - they’re a great way to pack in a variety of goodness. The key here is to mix up your ingredients to add a range of different nutrients into your diet. My cupboard basics tend to be:

  • Frozen chopped bananas

  • Frozen strawberries

  • Maca powder (energy, iron)

  • Flaxseed (fibre & protein)

  • Hemp seed (protein, essential fats)

  • Cashews

  • Peanut butter

  • Raw Cacao Powder

  • Oat Mylk (I use Oatly Barista)

  • Dates

  • Chia seeds (fibre, protein)

  • Ice

The best bit about smoothies is to experiment, start simply & then add different ingredients slowly & adjust to taste. They are nutrient dense so you don’t need a huge amount.

TIP

If you make too much, they are great turned into ice lollies!

My 3 favourite smoothie recipes are:

  • Chocolate Milkshake - Raw Cacao Powder, Oat mylk, frozen banana, ice, maca powder, hemp seed & either cashews or peanut butter

  • Strawberry Milkshake - Frozen strawberries & bananas, oat mylk & cashews

  • Green Machine - Oat Mylk, frozen banana, spinach & cardamom pods (if you don’t have a high powdered blender maybe use ground!)
