Simple but Mighty Humous

Homous is an almost daily feature in our house and the best bit is its so quick, easy & cheap to make. You can adjust the flavours to suit you & there are so many ingredients you can add. The recipe I have shown here is super simple and the perfect base to experiment from.

Ingredients

1 x can chickpeas

1 x lemon

1 x tablespoon tahini

Salt & pepper to taste

Method

  • Pour all the ingredients into a blender, including some of the juice from the chickpeas. Blend thoroughly, then give the mixture a stir & add more of the chickpea juice to help it bind into a smooth texture (unless you like it a bit more rustic!)

. Some of my favourite adaptations are:

  • Add roast garlic if you like a sweet richness

  • Roast red pepper (you can easily grill)

  • Smoked paprika

  • Add a tin of butterbeans/peas to increase bulk, add texture & flavour
